Beginning of an Author's Journey

How my new book came to pass.

The suds dripped down my face and over my scrunched eyelids as I shampooed my hair and conversed with my Heavenly Father. (I do my best thinking and praying while showering off the daily grime.) On this day in August 2023, I’d been discussing with the Lord what He had planned for me in the coming months, and I knew a book was in the works.

“So what would you like me to write my book about, Lord?”

Now, this wasn’t exactly a burning bush moment, but plain as day, I heard in my spirit, “You need to write a book on overcoming the grief of miscarriage.”

“What?” I asked with a bit more volume than necessary as I wiped the soap from my eyes and looked toward heaven. “Miscarriage? Don’t you want me to write a book on some happier topic?”

As my words still hung in the air, I reflected upon the conversation I’d had with a dear friend whose daughter had recently miscarried, and I knew the reason for the Lord’s commission. There are far too many women dealing with the loss of their children prior to their due dates. It seems that each month, I hear of yet another woman who has lost her baby. Despite what governmental entities might report, anecdotal evidence seems to indicate that miscarriage rates are on the rise.

Know that these losses do not go unnoticed by the Lord. He is aware of your pain, dear sister, and He does not want you to grieve in solitude. He desires you to come into His presence where He can heal your heartache. Miscarriage needs to be acknowledged and grieved, but few women have an understanding of lamentation, or the Lord’s process for mourning loss.

This is why From Hollow to Hopeful was created—to help parents learn to grieve the loss of their children in the presence of the Lord because this where true restoration is found.
